Snapshot: Torres de Serranos, Valencia, Spain

Constructed at the end of the 14th century by Pere Balaguer, the Serranos Towers are the largest Gothic city gateway in all of Europe.

Finished in 1391, they were once the main entrance of the city of Valencia. The walls were long gone, but the towers are preserved, a remembrance of the past.

Hours:

Monday- closed; Tuesday to Saturday- 10:00 to 14:00; 16:30 to 20:30; Sunday and holidays- 10:00 to 15:00

Fees:

Children 7-12; pensioners, groups, students with youth cards €1.00; all else, €2.00; Sunday- free
