Free Friday: Russell Cave National Monument 

Russell Cave is the 3rd longest mapped cave in Alabama. It is located near the city of Bridgeport.  

The cave has a large main entrance.   

 It was used as a shelter by prehistoric Indians from before 1000BCE through European colonization.
  
   
Russell Cave National Monument is open all year long. There are NO FEES to enter the cave or take a tour.

   
 Visitors may browse around at the Gilbert H. Grieve or Visitor Center, take a guided tour of the cave shelter, walk the two trails at the park, and do some bird watching.
