Free Friday: Saratoga Monument

Obelisk monuments! There are so many of them in the United States that it’s not feasible for me to visit every one of them with my limited vacation days. Therefore, I’m working on visiting only the climbable ones.

One of these obelisk monuments that visitors can climb is located in the state of New York. The Saratoga Monument is located in the village of Victory Mills. It is 154 and a half feet with a staircase that allows visitors to view the monument site and surrounding areas.

The monument was built in 1877 to honor American victory in the Battles of Saratoga when the Americans won against the European army. It was such a huge victory that the battle is dubbed as the “Turning Point of the American Revolution” and considered to be in the Top 15 Battles in world history.

There is NO FEE is required to go up the monument. Climbing is worth it not only to see the view from up the obelisk, but also to see the efforts of the people who built the monument from the inside.

When in the area, the Saratoga Monument is a FREE attraction visitors may want to check out.
