Memento Monday: Alaskan Black Diamond Necklace with Glass Pendant

It’s not really diamond, but that is how Alaskans call the stone hematite. Before the Russians sold Alaska to the United States, hematite rings and pendants were gifted to the Royal Family of Czar Alexander as a gift from his Alaskan subjects.

Ketchikan, Alaska is home to many artists. One of the popular art products the city has is glass accessories.

When I saw this necklace, I thought how perfect that it both features hematite stone and glass art.

I got this piece for a bargain at The Lure in Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska. Not bad looking for a $5 fashion accessory. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
