Residence Inn by Marriott, 7 Court House Dr Central Islip NY
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Residence Inn by Marriott is a brand of extended stay hotels. It operates in the upscale segment of the hotel industry. It may be in the upscale segment, but it has a casual atmosphere that’s family friendly. It is the reason why it’s my favorite Marriott brand.
On our weekend trip to Long Island, New York with some family members, we stayed at the Central Islip location of Residence Inn. Our room was a studio with a king bed and a sofa bed. It is a spacious room that could accommodate 4 adults and 2 kids under 5.
There’s a kitchenette with a dining table for two, a large refrigerator, a microwave, a hot plate, a coffeemaker, and a dishwasher. It’s an ideal space for clients with kids who prefer to prepare meals themselves. It was perfect for our group. Although we booked 2 rooms, everyone gathered in our room for a chat and chow.
The bathroom is just the right size, not too big and not too small. It accommodated our niece and her kids well enough at bath time. The counter and sink are separate from the bathroom which worked great for us.
The dining area at this Residence Inn is wide and handled the breakfast crowd well. There was no issue with the space. The issue was there was only one person working the breakfast buffet area. The food ran out pretty quick with the volume of guests coming to eat and the empty food carriers were not refilled at a reasonable amount of time. I think, at peak time, there should be another person there to help.
Our group liked the breakfast choices. There were cold and hot choices. The kids love waffles, so we loved that there was a waffle station.
Hot choices included eggs, breakfast potatoes, and sausage patties.
Bread and muffins were also available. There’s fruit and yogurt and oatmeal. Of course, there was coffee, milk, and juice.
We spent a few minutes lounging outdoors to soak in the early morning sun. An outdoor lounging area is always a plus on a sunny day.
Then we brought the kids to the indoor pool. They loved splashing about too much. They didn’t want to get out!
Looks quite good in my opinion. The bathroom is a little downer, but the room size and the comfort look quite good! I hope you enjoyed that one 🙂

Yes, the bathroom is nothing to rave about. Now, that you mentioned it, it’s not quite up to par with the other features of the room. The whole family loved the stay. It worked perfectly as our home away from home. 🙂

Sadly, this is the case with most American mid-tier hotels. While rooms are quite generous and nice, bathrooms are old and small. However, it’s great to hear that all of you enjoyed the stay overall 🙂
