Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the most visited national park in the United States. This park can be enjoyed by all without a fee.
The main entrances of the park are at the towns of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Cherokee, North Carolina. It’s a pretty big park!
Visitors go to the national park to enjoy the abundance of its natural beauty. There are 1,500 flowering plants, dozens of native fish, over 200 species of birds, and 60 of mammals.
At the Sugarlands Visitor Center there is a museum that displays some of the wild life found at the park.
There is also a 20-minute film that introduces visitors to the history and biodiversity of the area.
One can hike the numerous trails; or choose
to do an auto tour (you bring your own car 😊) stopping at the many overlooks that show the beauty of the park.
