The Tidal Basin is one of Washington, DC’s popular attractions. It is specially crowded during the Cherry Blossom Festival as it is home to more than a thousand cherry trees. Visitors can enjoy the Tidal Basin at no cost. It is one of the many no fee attractions in DC.
The Jefferson Memorial faces the basin.
Visitors sit on the steps to take in the surrounding scenery and the obelisk that is a memorial to President George Washington.
National Park Service rangers give talks at designated times to enrich visitors’ experience.
The Tidal Basin is one of my favorite places in DC. It’s a beautiful area to spend a few hours appreciating man made structures that remind of my adopted country’s rich history. I don’t mind going back again and again.
