A Historical Town Called Ninety Six

Yes, you read that right. The town is called Ninety Six. It is in Greenwood County of South Carolina. Visitors come to the Ninety Six National Historic Site.

In this historic site one could learn about the fight between loyalists to the British Empire and those who fought for independence. A significant structure built by British loyalists that is still visible today is the Star Fort which successfully fended off the attack of independence seekers.

Exhibits in the Visitor Center depict life during the Revolutionary War.

Of course, there are men in uniform.

Another learning trip for me. And why Ninety Six? Nobody knows for sure, one belief is that it is ninety six miles from the nearest Cherokee settlement of Keowee.
