Edison’s Light Bulb

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration.” – Thomas Alva Edison

Can you imagine our homes without light? Thanks to the persistence of Thomas Alva Edison, homes have enjoyed electrical lighting since the 1880’s. He and his associates had at least three thousand theories on how to make an incandescent lamp fit for home use. He did not give up until he successfully invented his electric lamp.
Exhibits of Edison’s inventions and the story of the light bulb are on display at the Thomas Edison National Historic Park in Orange, New Jersey.
